How will a node that is not responsible for a certain address (and doesn’t know about its chain)…

Since each account is a separate chain, it could be possible to logically shard the database across multiple nodes, where the transactions from one account never get split across multiple nodes and a node could be responsible for a specific set of accounts.

How will a node that is not responsible for a certain address (and doesn’t know about its chain) learn about payments from that address?
Or are you only talking about sharding the database regarding disk space but all nodes still process all transactions?
